Subsea Electrical and Mechanical Mooring Swivel
Blackfish designed a subsea electrical and mechanical mooring swivel to withstand demanding offshore loads while maintaining reliability and fatigue resistance. The result was an assembly-ready design with clear safety margins for deployment.

Blackfish designed a combined mechanical and electrical swivel to connect a wave energy converter to a three-point mooring system.
The swivel needed to withstand demanding offshore loads while maintaining reliability, fatigue resistance and compatibility with different power and mooring configurations.
The team defined extreme load cases, completed bearing and wear calculations, performed detailed finite element and fatigue analysis, and developed specifications for weld overlays, anodes, shackles and umbilical terminations.
The completed design provided a robust and assembly-ready swivel solution with appropriate safety factors, redundancy and flexibility for future offshore deployment.
