Tank Scissor Platform and Pipe Flow Rig
Blackfish designed and built two test rigs for Southampton University: a towing tank mooring platform and a pipe flow rig. Both were transported, installed and commissioned on site to support ongoing research.

Blackfish designed, manufactured and installed two specialist research rigs for the University of Southampton: a towing tank platform and a pipe flow rig.
The university required adaptable equipment for controlled mooring and flow research, including a large platform capable of operating at different heights within a towing tank.
Blackfish completed the concept design, detailed design and structural analysis, then managed manufacture, transport, installation and commissioning. The flow rig integrated pumps, filtration, cooling and instrumentation.
The university received two fully commissioned research systems supporting controlled studies of mooring behaviour, channel roughness, blockage and flow regimes.
